A popular destination for our southern African holiday packages

Zambia is a definite favourite amongst dedicated safari enthusiasts. Vast, unspoiled and virtually undiscovered, Zambia’s protected wilderness areas offer some of the most spectacular and diverse wildlife encounters any African holiday package has to offer. With the country also boasting unparalleled views from Victoria Falls, there are many unique things to do wherever you look! Travellers will find a variety of things to do in the capital Lusaka as well. Where is Zambia?

Perched on a high plateau in central south Africa, Zambia is a mineral-rich country bordered by its neighbours, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, to the north and north-east, Malawi and Mozambique, to the east and south-east, Zimbabwe and Botswana, to the south, and Namibia and Angola, to the west.  Many overland tours go through Zambia from Zimbabwe and South Africa. If you are flying in or out, the most common route is from South Africa to Zambia’s capital, Lusaka.

Things to know before you arrive

Zambia has both wet and dry seasons, so it’s important to pack wet weather gear if you’re travelling from November to March. If you want to see Victoria Falls at its most luscious, April and May (after the wet season) is the best time to book a holiday tour package! And if rich, lively safari tours are what you’re after, it’s best to visit Zambia June through October.

It’s important to stay safe, both by keeping your belongings stored away while you’re out and about, and by making sure you look after your health. Make sure to keep bottled water and a first aid kit with you when you’re out on safari! A yellow fever shot is required to travel to Zambia, so make sure to visit a travel doctor before you leave for your holiday.
